Google Statistics for Behavioral Targeting

Google insights is an pretty amazing service. It can help find find data on all kind of keywords. Let’s take a look at our favorite keyword, which is of course “behavioral targeting”. You can see that there was some interest in behavioral targeting before the year 2007, but in 2007 there were was a real spike in interest.

So let’s take a closer look at the year 2007. We can see that tension was mounting, right from the beginning of the year. It reached its highest point at the end of July with a news message from reuters, saying that Google was vary of behavioral targeting in online ads. A few weeks later Yahoo acquired the behavioral targeting ad network BlueLithium.

Looking at the chart of 2009, it seems that interest has cooled down again. Google has intensified its moves into behavioral targeting advertising again, but there has not been too much interest. But then it was summer vacation time in the northern hemisphere, so let’s see how the keyword behavioral targeting will do in September and October this year.
